Kenya Mission Feb 2006

The mission to Kenya was dual fold mainly to establish the 3rd leg of the churches efforts at reaching the unreached & secondly to rollout the first repeat of FGW in Mpeketoni.

Mpeketoni Farming God's Way Training

Mpeketoni is very strategically placed and I believe it to be a significant “Last frontier” in reaching to the Northern people groups & into Somalia.

This is a settlement scheme started here 28 years ago & the Full gospel church were faithful in the little mid hut, then faithful in the brick building seating 800 people, & now in the 3000 seater in great style & with excellence. This is one of the finest stories of faithful stewardship & God’s reward thereof I have ever heard of in an African community.

I really desire them to become a working model community of how FGW can release the full potential of the land & His people in Africa. This is clearly a faith statement especially remembering there are still only 3 cars in Mpeketoni.

The initial rate of adoption in Mpeketoni was low as only 4 people did FGW mostly only incorporating portions of the technology. However David Maturi in particular did FGW to perfection & his crop yield nobody believed to be true, as it was extrapolated to a 10 ton yield. I was tested when at 9 am only 2 people pitched for the 3 day seminar. But by 10.30 there were 65 people which stayed constant throughout the training. The implementation of the WWG was better this year as now the building is finished it meant we could put the garden on the church premises & David will manage it.

Some key leaders in the church really caught the heart of FGW & a FGW leadership team was soon established to bring a co-ordinated management of both the Well watered garden & the 1 acre research plot.

The 1 acre plot has been done to FGW standards & Alfonso will go down at strategic times to ensure that we can guarantee the standards. This one acre plot is the first of a thrust of establishing beacons in strategic locations in nations. Pius Muthie of Mpeketoni has also done incredibly well for his first season of Farming God's Way & the pictures of his excellent preparation & yields are attached below.

We enjoyed 2 days at Shella point on the return from the mainland. Incorporated into that was an afternoon of meetings with Ps Zebedi Maina the senior pastor of Full Gospel Mpeketoni who had been at an AGM of the National Full Gospel churches. He is a significant leader with a real heart & I feel we have an opportunity to roll out most of our work into a body which is not politically connected only a desire to establish the kingdom amongst the poor & lost.

Alfonso Wessels

Alfonso has been faithfully continuing the training of missionaries & pastors in Farming God's Way in Kenya although it is only one of the things that he is responsible for.

He has put in several Well watered gardens & his success rate speaks for itself. Alfonso has given freely & selflessly into the Kenyan Unreached people groups & the poor & have been a great blessing in all they do.
