Farming God’s Way Zambia 2004

Zambian Report 20-27th September 2004

Farming God’s Way Training

1)  21/9/2004 - Full day (7hr) training of Farming God’s Way at Highlands (COTN / Future Hope) church Livingstone. Attendance – 25. Average turnout was due to possibly to my fault in not faxing an invitational motivation to the congregation which would have gone a long way to improving attendance. However the attendance included all the Livingstone pastors & leaders & was significant in this regard. I also put in a small demonstration plot to give some physical display, however there was no water. However I put a complete garden in on the Monday the 27th just prior to flying home as the water had been put back on.

2) 23/9/2004 – Travel by bus to Zimba – 100km North of Livingstone to a Cotn church pastured by a quality young pastor. Trained about 16 people for the full day & then put in a complete garden nearby to the church as there was a water point. The garden will be managed by one of the church members who is doing vegetables in the same stand. The attendees were very sorry for the attendance & promised to get everyone from the whole community to attend in future events as it was so relevant to them.

3) 24/9/2004 – Travel thru by bakkie to Simwami to another COTN church. The church seems to be in a very early development phase & needs spiritual building. It seemed to me that Simwami needs a lot of prayer & I would encourage teams of missionaries to begin venturing further afield than the strong places in Livingstone & getting to the outlying weaker church centres. I did training of 23 people including school teachers & others. Training was held under a tree in 35 degree heat, which was quite interesting for 7 hours.

General

I was also priviledged to minister at Highlands again on the Sunday, where I spoke on Foundations for building the Gospel of the Kingdom of God. It was well received.

The Pioneers from New Creation Church in Robinhills came up on the Sat 25th & were involved in ministering to the children & youth over the weekend. I had a meal with them on the Sun night & also put in a well watered garden with 3 representatives of the team on Monday morning before flying out. I feel that these kinds of teams will be far more useful in rural settings than in urban or peri-urban environments.

I have identified the need for further training of key people in the nations thus far & will update on the opportunities for this shortly.

Yours sincerely in His service
